I found the sled idea that quatchi posted on here, which i had to admit was brilliant, made one but found it lacked abit of beef & didn't clip into any of the tools it was made for, so hunted ebay for a cheap XR Li-Ion 18v drill body. An option was to adapt an old battery to Li-Pos & use a balance charger as i use them with my airsoft builds, no that'll be pants with too much peshing about. im gonna sort these bleeders out with a new power source.

After conversations with friends about what to do with their old stuff, some binned their tools or sold them but i wasn't gonna let mine go that easy, ive got a XRP jigsaw which hadn't seem much action & a XRP ripsaw which i serviced & repaired last year. I still have some cordless tools from the old Ni/Cd battery range, the batteries, all 18v are completely knackered so decided to start a little collection of the new XR Li-Ion brushed & brushless range. Joined as a result of searching for some info about a Dewalt battery adaptor. UK plumber/heating engineer/technical tinkerer new to the forum. to date I've had no ill effects of the work that I've done here. Been using the radio for a couple weeks now and couldn't be happier, with the radio itself as well as my modifications. found that the dead battery didn't run the radio so I had to assume that it was working as I had hoped. then I impatiently waited for one of my batteries to discharge on one of the other dewalt tools and tested the radio with it. I cut off the carriage portion of the flashlight and removed the carriage from the radio then carved the back of the radio to fit the yellow bits. so with my limited understanding of electronics I continued forward. Being that I'm only trying to power a radio I decided that the wire gauge was probably sufficient and I again decided to take a gamble and see if the low voltage cutoff would still work when wired back to ground bypassing the boards. The small red and black (+/-) provide 3v to the led, but if tested from the red wire directly to the battery ground it supplys 18v. The flashlight has two boards the small one is the switch alone, the larger one has the stuff. I bought the radio and the overpriced 20v dewalt flashlight and proceded to void warranties. Buying more batteries wasn't going to happen so I did some research and took a gamble.
